Quote from Vatican II Document - DOGMATIC CONSTITUTION ON DIVINE REVELATION,

“The word of God, which is the power of God for  salvation to anyone that has faith (see Rom. 1:16), is set forth and displays its power in a most wonderful  way in the writings of the New Testament. For when the time had fully come (see Gal. 4:4), the Word became flesh and dwelt among us full of grace and truth (see John 1:14). Christ established on earth the kingdom of God, revealed His Father and Himself by deeds and words, and by His death, resurrection, and glorious Ascension as well as sending the Holy Spirit completed His work.”

Lesson 1 - Reading Scripture as the Word of God

Praise the Lord and welcome to Lesson 1.  My name is Michael Boroden, Director of Communications and website designer for this site.  I will be your written narrator for this lesson.  Simply follow the text instructions written below. If you should have any questions, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.  The questions at the bottom of this page are intended for you to answer for yourself and are for your benefit.  You will not be required to submit the answers to us.  The questions are simply for your benefit.  There will be something to do at the end of the final lesson.

Let's get started!

Read and remember the bullets below:

  • When Reading Scripture one should take the approach that scripture was written to “me” and about me.
  • According to the teaching of the church Jesus revealed himself & his Father through word and deed (God is no longer a mystery).
  • The word of God is the power of God for salvation for them that have faith (please read the Vatican II quote on the left of this page).

John 1:14  "And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father's only Son, full of grace and truth. "

Gal 4:4-5 "But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to ransom those under the law, so that we might receive adoption. "

Prayer - Lord teach me and help me to understand your word, so that I may begin and continue and operate in your will - Amen.
